NYFW Trends - Blog Post #1

I took to my holy grail fashion site in pursuit of all the latest trends that hit the runway this Fashion Week; Harpers Bazaar. They never fail to cover the great trends and always manage to capture the best of the best when it comes to NYFW. Three trends stuck out to me whilst browsing this go-around. Wang killing the stud department, Prabal taking charge of the textured knits, and Derek Lam covering the camel game.

Alexander Wang always manages to make a statement on the runway and this season was no different. Showing a plethora of ways to rock the stud this spring, we saw them specifically in forms of sweaters, belts, and even socks! I think this is a brilliant introduction to what this spring has to offer, finally showing something other than the pastels or bright colors we always expect for spring. I believe this will give people the incentive to be a little more edgy when picking their outfits when the flowers begin to bloom.

Prabal just might have caused me to drool this season when I saw the textures he was playing with, especially in the form of a knit. From dresses to chunky turtlenecks to crewneck sweaters; he brought it all. My guess is that this trend will rule the cities this spring because it allows people to have more fun when mixing patterns and of course other textures, which happens to be another very popular trend this season.

Finally, Derek Lam caught my eye with the ultra chic camel color I'm borderline obsessed with. What I love most is that we saw this color in not only different pieces but also in different fabrics. As you can see in the pictures I've chosen, he gave us a cashmere sweater, a gorgeous calf-length pleated skirt, and a killer LEATHER skirt. I think combining all of those different pieces but still incorporating the camel is absolutely brilliant. I think this trend will make an impact with those a little more nervous to make a harsh transition into spring. Some people are beyond ready to jump into another new season and change up their wardrobe, but for those who are a little more hesitant; Derek is your guy.
